My children fascinate me. Every mother thinks her own children are perfect and I'm no exception. Well, I know they're not perfect, Gabe has a way of interrupting you about every point 3 seconds and Kennedy sure does need a lesson on how to sleep through the night but other than a few minor "flaws" they're pretty darn close.
We went to the dentist this week for a routine check up and discovered that Gabe has two loose teeth on the bottom. I nearly started crying when the hygienist asked me if I'd noticed. Oh my god, I brush his teeth everyday (see earlier post on my cleanliness and control issues) and I've never even noticed! Anyway, I'm excited for him as he was beaming with pride and asked me at least every 10 minutes if I though his teeth were about to come out! I just can't help but be a little sad though. I realized that last week when I dropped him off outside, yes OUTSIDE, of his school and he hurried onto the sidewalk with his backpack on and lunchbox in hand that he's officially a little boy. I am so amazed that my little boy is growing up. Luckily I have Kennedy to lavish my kisses on and she doesn't mind. Gabe now turns his head and gives me the cheek! Ah well, he just gets more fun personality wise as he gets older.
Kennedy is doing great as always. She loves to smile, like all the time. I love it, it's so easy to show her off when she's such a happy baby. Her hair has taken a turn for the worst as it begins to grow into an odd shaped mullet, long in the back on only the left side, this all stemming down from a peculiar swirl shaped cowlick that goes in the opposite direction of all her other hair. We're trying to deal while we disguise our "mishap" with barrettes, bows and other attention getters on top of her little head. She is of course oblivious to our evil plan and just bobs her head around and smiles. She started sitting up this week, for a whole 4 seconds until she folds in half and starts mouthing the floor, I take one look at that waistline of her pants and think "yowza!" but she doesn't seem to mind. She also finds it hysterical when Gabe or "Budder" as he calls himself, hits himself in the head. Now normally I wouldn't encourage this type of behavior from a child but Kenna's laughter is so addicting I find myself "gently suggesting" to Gabe that he should bop himself just to hear the baby laugh. He always thinks this is great idea and soon those belly laughs are heard throughout the house.
Last but not least, I have been busy making Kennedy's Halloween costume. I refuse to spend $100 on two costumes for the kids so I ventured out this year and thought I'd try my hand at making them myself. Gabe wants to be Darth Vader (or Dark Invader as he thinks it is) and I'm not sure about making that one but Kennedy will be a bumblebee and I'm almost done with it. Looks really cute, I copied it off a boutique website and added my own ideas since I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for in a costume. I'll post pics as soon as I get it done. Gabe's costume could be made easily too but I just hate the look of sweatpants on boys, ugh..... I was thinking it would be like a black sweatsuit, cape and then I can buy the mask. He already has the light saber. Not sure though, this costume may be worth the money if he doesn't look like he's wearing a jumpsuit. I've officially given up on his costumes, I always want him to be something cute but he's sure he'd rather be a superhero. I've almost got him talked into an army guy though. The appeal is that he can carry a gun if he's an army guy. Ah, we face this battle every October. I love watching his face though when he's in costume. I will never forget traveling to Chicago two years ago to get the beloved Red Power Ranger costume. He put on that suit and played the part, he was no longer Gabe, he was Jason, Red Ranger! With all my control issues I just can't take that from him, he was so happy. I'm assuming this year will be the same and ya know what, I don't even mind. It's one night, a night that meant the world to me when I was younger and I want the same for him. At least I have Kenna to dress up for a couple years. Goodnight!
